Spring Racing Makeup Look!
Ladies it's time to get the razor out, spray tan on & make an appearance!!
No more uggies & activewear - It's finally time to brush the dust off our heels & get GLAM!!
Lets face it, Spring racing carnival is all about the fashion right? What horses! Just kidding.
It's all about having fun with your overall look & the best accessory ... CONFIDENCE!!!
We are here to talk about your makeup & your BFFs at Runway Room have you covered. This look is all about fresh looking skin, soft smokey eyes & a pop of colour on the lips!
To begin this look - first things first, SUNSCREEN! Most people forget about it & it's so important to protect your skin from the UVA & UVB rays, which can age us quicker. We don't want that, right?
Prep the skin with Runway Rooms Mattifying Primer, this will ensure your base will go the distance but also provide you with a smooth landing with your foundation.
Next apply your shade concealer under the eyes & eye lid. Here I've used pink flesh concealer, the peachy/fleshy colour helps eliminate dark tones & brighten the eyes. This also doubles up as an eye shadow primer and thanks to its velvety texture, it will assist with gripping the shadow to the lid & help eliminate any fallout. Using your fingertip, apply a small amount to the inner corner of the under eye area & pat your way around the eye. Less is more when it comes to concealer, the last thing you want is your concealer creasing. Just apply enough to prep the area & even out any unwanted skin tone.
So let's talk Foundation! At Runway Room we have 3 different options
Face base - luminous liquid foundation. Suitable for all ALL skin types & is a buildable coverage - meaning it is sheer to full coverage depending on how you layer it.
Mineral Stick - a cream foundation with a luxurious pearl finish & can provide an opaque coverage depending on how you apply it. This vegan alternative is 100% mineral & can also double up as a concealer.
Mineral Loose foundation - Triple milled powder which is super refined so your base doesn't look dry or dull. Can be worn alone or in conjunction with Face Base or Mineral Stick to set your base in place & provide additional coverage.
Using my Face wand & 1-2 pumps of Face Base foundation, I start my application in the centre of the face & work my way out. This way you don't get a build up of product along your jaw & will blend nicely down the neck. I then applied mineral loose over the top using a patting motion to lock my foundation in. This also has an SPF 15 which can also provide you some protection whilst you're drinking that champagne in the sun!
The races are a day event, so contouring is optional! I've kept it simple & opted for just Runway Room's number one best seller, Glow Palette. Apply Vegas sunset bronzer under the cheek bones, temples, forehead & tip of nose to add warmth to your complexion. Add Peach Punch blush to the apples of the cheeks & blend up into your bronzer to lift the face - don't be shy now! Blush can brighten & lift the face so don't be afraid of adding a little more, it really is the perfect accessory to compliment your look. Finally, add Illuminate highlighter to the high-points of the face; cheekbones, above arch of brows & cupids bow to accentuate those features. The pearly finish the glow palette gives will truly switch your face on & radiate that glow.
To frame both face & eyes, start by defining brows with Mineral Pressed brow powder. Now the best part is I only used 1 eye shadow in this look - that's right 1!
Line the entire lash line (top & bottom) with your favourite coloured eyeliner - I used black. Don't stress about it being perfect as we are going to smudge it anyway. I did this to create definition & depth along the line. Then using a small clean eye brush, smudge & fuse out the eye line using short side to side strokes - This starts to move the liner & blend the edges. Keep blending until you're happy with your shape & intensity. Then using Runway Rooms Mineral eye dust Peanut Butter, sweep this over the top on the eyeliner starting on the lower lash line, fusing up & out into the temple & then coming across blending through the socket. Applying eye shadow in this area creates a more balanced eye shape in particular if you have a hooded eye which is very common. Add a subtle highlight to the brow bone using the Illuminator from the Glow Palette - try not to apply too much as this may enhance the hooded area of the eye. To finish the eyes apply your fave lash enhancements, I added Luxe Lashes to create a subtle wispy look. If you're someone like me who loves mascara, apply a generous coat after your lash application. This will blend your fake ones into the natural ones & create a more natural look.
The race is all about colour & so its only fair we style this look with a statement lip - Check out CEO, The Governor, Supermodel, Entrepreneur & Gypsy from our bold collection.
To create that perfect red lip, start with your fav red lippy & line lips to create your desired shape followed by colouring the entire lip. This will hold your lippy for longer! I have used a CEO which is a blue based red & feel like it suits my colouring best. Then apply a generous coat of your lippy ensuring to apply it evenly don't forget to pay attention to the outer corners. Finish your lip off with a light dust of setting powder or skin veil to set it & reduce the chance of it transferring onto your mask or champagne flute!!
Now let's talk about touch ups!
Skin veil is like having your own personal filter in your handbag, so if you get a little shinny pat this to remove excess shine. It's important not to add "coloured" powders over to touch up as the pigment in the product will gravitate to the oil & can look cakey as it wears longer throughout the day - we don't want that, right?
Patting is going to be your best friend - got an itch? Pat it, get a watery eye? Pat it, need to touch up... PAT PAT PAT!
And of course, bring you lip liner & lippy. Everything else leave at home & save the room for your foldable flats in your clutch - believe me you'll need them!
Hope this provides you with some uncomplicated tips & tricks to be races ready this 2021!!!
